Roberto Martinez insists he will not rest any Everton players in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby with Liverpool.
The under-fire Blues manager is set to take a near-strength side for the 226th meeting between the sides, which comes three days before facing Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.
But Martinez insists that his team need to use the trip to Anfield, where they have not won for 16 years, to build momentum ahead of Saturday’s Wembley showdown.
He said: “You cannot just switch it (momentum) on and off.
“You have to perform well before you go to a semi-final. You can’t just switch it on a perform well, it doesn’t work like that.
“You have to create a competitive nature in every game you go into.”
