New Everton stadium progressing ‘really well’

The Mayor of Liverpool says plans for Everton’s new stadium at Bramley Moore dock are progressing ‘really well.’

It was announced that the Blues plan to move from Goodison Park to the Liverpool waterfront site earlier this year.

A special agreement with Liverpool City Council, in which they will set up a Special Purpose Vehicle Company and loan the stadium to the club, was agreed back in March.

Since then Everton have been seeking investors to help them fund the stadium, which is being designed in conjunction with leading stadium architect Dan Meis.

Fans have been keen to hear details since then and council leader Joe Anderson has assured them that plans are progressing well.

“We’re still talking to the football club about an arrangement with them and an agreement with them about how we can support the development of the stadium,” he said.

“And that includes us being in partnership with the football club to deliver the stadium.

“And talks are going well, progressing really well, on schedule, and we’re happy with the progress that’s been made.

“You can’t put the cart before the horse. They’ve got to put the financial model and things in place.

“But there is work going on not only in terms of stadium design and stuff like that but also preparation work on the site.

“I would argue that in terms of timelines that they’re being met, and I’m comfortable and happy with the progress that’s been made.”
