Everton board ‘worried’ by poor form, admits Koeman

Ronald Koeman admits Everton’s board are worried by their recent poor form.

Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Lyon plunged the Goodison Park club further into crisis as they now face an improbably battle to qualify from Group E.

The Blues could drop into the Premier League’s relegation zone this weekend if they suffer another successive domestic defeat when Arsenal visit Merseyside.

An under-fire Koeman insists that he still retains support of the Everton hierarchy but conceded that concerns about current results have begun to emerge.

When asked about the backing from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, he said: “That’s not changed; of course, we have daily contact, weekly contact.

“But everybody is of course a little bit worried about the situation.

“That’s normal.”

However the Dutchman remains confident that he can turn around Everton’s fortunes ahead of the clash with Arsene Wenger’s side on Sunday.

“Frustration is a part in life and football if you don’t win. I hate to lose,” he added.

“But I’m still the manager and we fight for everything to turn it around.

“Of course the pressure is on the manager but okay I watch TV I sometimes am on social media, I know what’s going around and that’s normal.

“That’s football. I don’t take a step back, I go forward and let’s hope for three points and after Sunday everybody will be more happy than they are today.”
