Muhamed Besic has issued a plea for unity to Everton supporters ahead of a season-defining week for the club.
Wednesday’s Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool comes on the back of a bruising few days for Roberto Martinez, who was confronted by a Blues fan during last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Everton will then head to Wembley for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United, and Besic has called on the Goodison Park fan base to pull together and present a united front in light of recent tensions in the stands.
He said: “It’s their choice. We will always give our best.
“You can’t say the season is all bad, just maybe we didn’t win so many games but we are also in the semi-final. They should be behind us.”
“That’s the fans, they are always right, that is not a problem for us, I just mean we have to be together, all the fans, the players, the staff to reach the final and maybe win the cup.”
Turning to the Anfield derby, Besic insists that the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side must take precedence. even with Saturday’s semi-final looming.
“We have to win. We can’t be nervous or think about the semi-final,” he added.
“We just have to go from game to game.
“The Liverpool game is more for the fans. We just see them as a normal opponent.”
