Ronald Koeman believes Jordan Pickford has justified Everton’s decision to sign him.
The 23-year-old joined the Blues in a £30 million from Sunderland after starring for the Black Cats last season.
He has since established himself as Koeman’s first choice this season, starting all five of their competitive games so far, with three of them seeing him keep a clean sheet.
He was unable to make it four out of five in a 2-1 win over Hajduk Split but a superb penalty save to deny Ahmed Said meant there were few complaints from his teammates.
It capped a big day for him following his call up to the senior England team earlier on Thursday and Koeman has predicted big things for his summer recruit.
He said: “Pickford is showing it was the right decision to sign him.
“Everybody costs a lot of money at this time.
“He’s still a young keeper. I’m really impressed from day one how comfortable he is.
“The clean sheets give him that confidence and he plays in a really important position in the team.
“There is a big future for the boy at this club. He totally deserved to be in the national team.”
