Everton have finally agreed a deal to sign Swansea talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Negotiations over Sigurdsson’s valuation had dragged on between Blues officials and their Welsh counterparts until Tuesday’s eventual breakthrough.
Swansea had hoped to command a fee in the region of £50 million for the former Tottenham player but have since settled on a figure closer to £40m.
Sigurdsson will travel to Merseyside on Wednesday to undergo a medical ahead of his unveiling as Everton’s new record signing – the club’s third this summer.
Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane previously held the accolade with their £30m moves to Goodison Park but are now set to be dwarfed by the 27-year-old’s fee.
Swansea left Sigurdsson out of their opening day draw with Southampton as his immediate future had continued to remain clouded in uncertainty.
The Iceland international’s arrival at Goodison will come just a day after midfielder Gareth Barry sealed a move to West Brom for an undisclosed fee.
