Everton FC to wear Goodison Park anniversary kit

Everton will wear a special kit to mark their Goodison Park roots this weekend.

Ronald Koeman’s side are set to don the commemorative strip for their final pre-season friendly against three-time Europa League winners Sevilla on Sunday.

Featuring the club’s crest from the Dixie Dean era, the royal blue playing shirt also includes subtle detailing of the stadium’s inception date.

The Blues have also unveiled a special clothing range as part of a season-long celebration of their 125-year association with their ‘Grand Old Lady’ home.

Goodison icons Graeme Sharp and Kevin Campbell returned to their former stomping ground to take a first-look at the range, including the retro kit.

Further events are planned to mark the anniversary, including match day activity around the date of Everton’s first game in their spiritual home on September 2.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka said: “Goodison Park has been home to so many special memories for me and my family throughout my time here.

“It seems only fitting that to celebrate 125 years at Goodison the fans can purchase something exclusive and as a team we’re all looking forward to putting on the commemorative kit on Sunday to wear in front of all of you.”

Alongside the retro kit the clothing range also includes a variety of t-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies and zip-up sweatshirt jackets.

Reflecting on his own Goodison career, Campbell revealed to Click Liverpool which memory remains his most evocative in an Everton shirt.

He said: “The stand-out one was when I was on loan [in 1999], the penultimate game of the season against West Ham.

“We ended up winning six-nil and the atmosphere here was electric. It really was electric and that really stands out.

“I’ve had so many happy memories [at Goodison] but that one was the first real big memory of my time here.”

The entire range is currently available to pre-order online at evertondirect.com and will be available to purchase, both online and in-store at Everton One and Everton Two, from Saturday, September 2 – to mark the anniversary date.
