Wayne Rooney has proved that he has always slept in Everton pyjamas.
Rooney claimed on his Goodison Park return last weekend that he had still worn the club’s nightwear during his 13 years as a Manchester United player.
And fresh from scoring his first goal for the Toffees since returning, the England captain shared photographic evidence in a post on his official Instagram account.
Captioned ‘My first pair of Everton pyjamas’, the photo shows Rooney as a toddler in an outfit bearing the Toffees’ crest from the mid to late 1980s.
Speaking last weekend, the 31-year-old admitted that his love for Everton had not dimmed during his Old Trafford career.
He said: “To be honest I’ve kept it quiet for the last 13 years but I’ve actually been wearing Everton pyjamas at home with my kids.
“I had to keep that a bit quiet!”
