Everton FC pledge ‘long-term’ support to Aaron Lennon

Aaron Lennon will be offered ‘long term’ support by Everton beyond his contract expiry.

Lennon was detained under the Mental Health Act after suffering from what has been described as a stress-related illness.

Police found the winger at the side of the road close to the M602 near Salford barely an hour after the Blues’ game with Chelsea.

Both Lennon’s family have requested privacy while he is undergoing treatment while Everton have pledged to help the player.

But Ronald Koeman has revealed that the club’s help for the 30-year-old will be provided even after his existing Goodison Park deal is set to run next summer.

He said: “Aaron is still one year more contract and of course it is a long term support if it is a long-term problem.

“We will support and help him to come back if it takes time, it takes time.

“We don’t drop the support to him.”
