‘No chance’ of Koeman quitting Everton FC early

Ronald Koeman insists there is ‘no chance’ he will leave Everton before his current deal expires.

Koeman continues to be touted as Barcelona’s potential new manager amid their ongoing search for a successor to the outgoing Luis Enrique this summer.

Comments from the Dutchman earlier this week have intensified the link as he admitted that a return to his former club remains among his personal ambitions.

But Koeman, who is nearing the first 12 months of a three-year contract at Goodison Park, insists that his future with the Blues remains under no imminent threat.

He said: “There’s no chance that I will leave Everton before the end of my contract.

“I mentioned several times it’s human [to have] ambition; for players, for managers.

“That doesn’t change my position or contract with Everton. I’m really happy, I’m looking forward to next season.”

“My past is always linked by Barcelona, I can’t stop this,” added Koeman.

“If I can stop this I will stop it because I am the Everton manager.

“Sometimes in the last two years at Southampton there are stories about Barca, they have been stories since I left Barcelona.

“But I am still not there, and I don’t expect I will be the next manager.

“I mentioned several times that I think it’s human ambition that means for players, for managers and that is not changing my position or contract with Everton.

“I’m really happy with Everton, I’m really looking forward to next season, the project and I am part of that project.”
