Mourinho: No regrets selling Schneiderlin to Everton FC

Jose Mourinho insists he has no regrets in selling Morgan Schnelderin to Everton.

Schneiderlin continues to attract critical acclaim with the Blues following his £20 million arrival from Manchester United in the previous transfer window.

But his move to Goodison Park has coincided with his former club encountering a myriad of issues which have decimated their squad ahead of the season’s run-in.

Midfield has been the heaviest hit, with Marouane Fellaini’s headless sending-off against Manchester City ruling him out of the Red Devils’ next three games.

Mourinho will also be without Paul Pogba for Sunday’s visit of Swansea City as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

The United manager, however, insists the decision to offload Schnelderlin to Everton was one which he will continue to stand by.

He said: “It was our decision [to sell Schneiderlin].

“To have lots of players without playing is something that the players [also] don’t want.

“We didn’t tell Morgan want wanted to sell him – Morgan asked ‘please sell me, I want to go, I want to play every game’.

“Sometimes there is always this dilemma of keeping a bigger squad but the players don’t want to stay.

“Even sometimes young players, when they are not playing, they ask to leave so it’s very hard.”
