Koeman lays into Everton FC players for West Ham draw

Ronald Koeman pulled no punches on Everton’s players following their draw with West Ham.

Momentum in the Blues’ bid to secure a top five finish was dampened by an uninspiring stalemate on Saturday’s maiden visit to the London Stadium.

Summarising his team’s display, Koeman was forthright in his criticisms and claimed that he would have changed his entire line-up at half time if required.

He said: “I made a signal to the team to change.

“The half-time substitutions were tactical, I feel sorry for Tom [Davies] and [Idrissa] Gueye.

“If I was allowed, I could have changed 10 players.”

“We didn’t bring intensity in the game,” added Koeman.

“It was too slow, we had a lot of ball possession but there were too many players in the central position in the midfield.

“We took too much time, in my opinion, and if you start a game like this it is difficult to change.”

Koeman also confirmed the goalkeeping change was due to form and not injury.

“Joel Robles was dropped,” he revealed.

“We started the season with Martin – but he got his injury. Joel showed good performances but he dropped his level in the last few weeks.

“That was the reason to change.”
