Everton FC appoint new Academy head of coaching

Everton have appointed Dave Adams as their new Academy Head of Coaching.

Adams was handpicked from 90 domestic and international candidates worldwide to spearhead the latest phase of the Blues’ coaching development.

The 37-year-old held a similar role at Swansea City, where he oversaw the club’s youth development department from a Category 2 Academy status to Category 1.

He also served five months as the club’s assistant manager during the 2015/16 season as they secured a credible 12th-place finish in the Premier League.

Prior to that, he spend a decade as a national youth team coach in the Wales set-up, working with many players who went on to become senior internationals.

Adam was also involved in mentoring managers and coaches such as Leeds United boss Garry Monk, Simon Grayson, Kit Symons, and Liverpool’s Pepijn Lijnders.

Now a UEFA Pro-Licence coach with a proven track record for developing players and coaches, he is highly-respected and renowned as an innovative coach and educator.

“He has delivered this with a unique blend of football coaching experience and expertise in the applied sciences related to coaching effectiveness, skill acquisition, and football performance.

“He is a thoughtful, innovative professional who possesses the skills, experience and personality to adapt to meet the individual needs of our players and our staff.

“His commitment to player and coach development is reflected by the excellent body of work he has already delivered in these areas and I am genuinely excited to bring him to USM Finch Farm.”
