Schneiderlin could miss ‘several weeks’ for Everton FC

Everton manager Ronald Koeman fears Morgan Schneiderlin could be absent for ‘several weeks’.

Schneiderlin visibly struggled as he limped off at Goodison Park with a calf problem picked up during the first half of the Blues’ hammering of Hull City.

The France midfielder will undergo a scan on the injury on Sunday but risks missing the Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool after the international break.

And Koeman admits that he faces an anxious wait as to how long a spell Schneiderlin, who made a flying start to life at Everton, will face on the sidelines.

He said: “We need to make a scan tomorrow, it’s his calf.

“I’m a little bit worried he might be out for several weeks.

“But we need to wait until tomorrow to know what really happened.”

The Everton manager also explained Kevin Mirallas’ absence for the Tigers’ visit.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin took the winger’s place in the starting line-up and opened the scoring owing to the Belgian’s wife giving birth to their second child.

“Kevin had some issues with his groin [on Thursday] but we expected that on Friday he would do normal training,” he added.

“He went to Belgium for his wife and their second child. Of course, there are some things more important than football.

“I spoke to him, he told me the situation and he went to Belgium.”
