Barkley explains Bournemouth celebration

Ross Barkley’s renewed level of confidence was behind his celebration against Bournemouth, the Everton midfielder has revealed.

Barkley raised his arms in triumph after rounding Artur Boruc before rolling the ball into an empty net in the Blues’ 6-3 rout over the Cherries earlier this month.

The England international has found mixed success during a first season under Ronald Koeman but is now enjoying a resurgence at Goodison Park.

And Barkley admits that his current mindset was reflected in the moment before further condemning Eddie Howe’s side in the nine-goal thriller.

“That just showed how much I’m enjoying it at the minute. And that’s the same with all of the lads as well,” he told evertontv.

“The goal was in the last minute – and it’s something you do as a kid. I was through and knew I wasn’t missing, so I celebrated before I scored.

“It was just on the spur of the moment, I thought about doing it straight away.

“It’s what every footballer wants to do – enjoy it [playing].

“Sometimes you go through the hard spells but it’s worth it in the end because you get the good days ahead.”
