Everton have confirmed the loan signing of Wolsburg forward Anton Donkor.
The 19-year-old previously held talks with Aston Villa over a potential switch for the rest of the season but the Blues have won the race to enlist his services.
A versatile attacker, Donkor is considered to be one of the Bundesliga’s most promising future talents but has yet to make a senior appearance for Wolfsburg.
David Unsworth’s under-23 side will welcome the Germany U20 international as Everton’s youth set-up aim to clinch the Premier League 2 title this season.
Unsworth recently paid tribute to Farhad Moshiri and the rest of the Goodison Park hierarchy for backing his plans to strengthen in the January transfer window.
“You never say never but I’m hopeful of one or two but if not, no problem, we’re not down to the bare bones,” he said on Tuesday.
“We’d love to bring quality, young players into our group.
“But they have to be the right players, players we think are good enough to play in our first-team or we wouldn’t entertain the idea and I couldn’t go to the board and the owner and ask to bring in any player.
“We wouldn’t do that. They have to have the potential to play in our first-team.
“And I have to say, that every time I’ve gone to the board and to our first-team they have been brilliant and they have backed our judgement.”
