Everton FC open to selling Jagielka, admits Koeman

Ronald Koeman has admitted that Everton are open to selling captain Phil Jagielka this month amid claims of interest from several Premier League clubs.

David Moyes is reportedly keen to reunite with his former defender, who last featured in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Hull City on December 30, at Sunderland.

West Ham are also credited with making an enquiry about Jagielka’s availability since he was restricted to a bit-part role in Koeman’s Goodison Park plans.

“I don’t know [if he will leave]. It’s all about if there is interest for Jags,” said Koeman.

“Of course in the last few weeks he did not start but he’s still important. He’s the captain of the team.

“In general, if players are not happy, we speak to them and then we find a solution.

“What is first, once again, is what’s best for the club and then for the player.”
