Farhad Moshiri has outlined his ambition to see Everton re-establish itself among the Premier League’s elite but admitted that it will take time.
Moshiri faced the Blues’ shareholders at his first General Meeting just under 12 months since the British-Iranian billionaire became the club’s majority backer.
Everton revealed that they have secured £75 million sponsorship deals for their new shirt sponsor and a naming rights deal for their Finch Farm training ground.
Progress on a proposed new stadium on the Liverpool waterfront is also moving forward with talks over a deal for the Bramley-Moore Dock still ongoing.
But Moshiri has set his sights on restoring the Goodison Park club to its former glories on the pitch and warned that they face a limited timeframe to do so.
He said: “It’s not enough to say you are a special club and a great club. We don’t want to be a museum.
“We need to be competitive and to win. The gold standard is the Premier League position – not the FA Cup, and I love the FA Cup.
“You need to do well in the league – that is where Everton’s competitive edge will be measured and needs to be totally focused.
“We have a position but we do not have all the time in the world. We need to establish ourselves and we have a window to do it.
“Bill and previous managers kept the club close to the elite for many years but now we need to look at a sustainable base to be among the elite.
“It takes time but we are committed, that’s why we are here.”
