Zlatan Ibrahimovic has denied deliberately kicking Seamus Coleman in the head during Everton’s draw with Manchester United.
Coleman tangled with the veteran striker during the second half of the Blues’ 1-1 encounter with Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday.
Replays showed Ibrahimovic appearing to kick out at the Republic of Ireland defender, who was later withdrawn due to the blow sustained, while he was on the floor.
The Red Devils’ striker could now face retrospective disciplinary action from the Football Association for the incident which went unnoticed by referee Michael Oliver.
But Ibrahimovic has disputed accusations of wrongdoing, insisting that he would have made Coleman ‘fall asleep’ if it had been intentional.
“It was a physical game. They played hard,” he told MUTV.
“I heard one of the commentators say I kicked someone in the head on purpose but it was a 50-50 duel and he pulled me down.
“Trust me, if I want to kick someone in the head, I know how to kick someone in the head and make him fall asleep.
“That is the only thing I have to say.”
