Koeman ‘not worried’ by Everton FC’s poor results

Ronald Koeman insists he is ‘not worried’ by Everton’s alarming Premier League form despite yesterday’s defeat to Southampton.

A first-minute goal from Charlie Austin proved enough to condemn the Blues to a run of one win in nine games from all competitions this season.

Hopes of European qualification have been further dampened by the slump with Everton now currently five points adrift of even basic continental spot.

But Koeman admits that his greater area of concern lies in the manner of his side’s performances rather than the mere outcome of recent games.

He said: “I’m not worried about the results.

“I’m worried about what happened on the pitch and how we start the game and how we have difficulties in having good organisation in the team to stop the quality and strengths of the opponent.

“That’s my concern at the moment. I’m worried because after the wake-up call after how we played in the first half last week.

“And then [at Southampton] we conceded a goal after one minute. That’s not really what we want to happen.”
