Everton FC could make £100M from new stadium naming rights

Everton stand to gain up to £100 million with naming rights for their potential new stadium.

Two sites are currently under consideration by the Goodison Park club after their plan to move to nearby Walton Hall Park was scrapped last week.

A waterfront site in the north Liverpool docks is thought to be Everton’s preferred option but council-owned land in Stonebridge Cross, Croxteth is also being assessed.

And Professor Tom Cannon, a football academic from the University of Liverpool, believes the Toffees could reap the benefits of a lucrative sponsorship deal similar to the one currently enjoyed by Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium branding.

He said: “They could be looking for something like £100m over 10 years.

“But the number of people doing that are few and far between, as are the number of opportunities such as this.

“The big deals tend to be with international airlines, for example, who would want to see Everton playing in Europe.

“If Everton can get a deal like Arsenal’s it could be a big boost for the club – but a lot of clubs have been looking to secure these deals.

“The best deals have been associated with new stadiums and if they get a new stadium and find the right sponsor it could be a marriage made in heaven.”
