Blue Islands have launched its first flight to Guernsey from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Staff at the Speke terminal celebrated the arrival of the new twice-weekly service with a traditional water cannon ‘aircraft baptism’ for passengers arriving from the island.
Travellers will now be able to reach the popular Channel Islands destination on Tuesdays and Saturday between May 21 and September 14.
Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for LJLA, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Blue Islands to Liverpool for the first time today as they become the latest operator to join the growing list of airlines operating from Liverpool.”
Rob Veron, Blue Islands’ CEO, added: “Islanders can now enjoy direct connections to the cultural city of Liverpool, as well as the Lake District and North Wales and a lower cost alternative to Aurigny’s Manchester service.
“What’s more the new route will also be a boost for inbound tourism to Guernsey.”
