Bordeaux Wine Festival Liverpool will be returning to the city this May for its 2nd year in a row,aiming to excite and educate the UK about one of the world’s favourite wines.
Always thought Bordeaux is too expensive? Not sure which one to choose? The award-winning festival, running from 31st May to 2ndJune, will teach guests everything they need to know about the many joys and varieties of Bordeaux wines, alongside a food offering from some of the UK’s most exciting chefs, including Paul Askew and Tom Brown, as well as Liverpool’s best loved restaurants.
This year, the festival will boast an impressive 8 different wine pavilions, where guests will be able to taste a plethora of Bordeaux wines from across the region, with hundreds of different varieties on offer.
From Bordeaux wines created using traditional wine making techniques to those which embody innovative, modern methods, the festival will celebrate a diverse range of styles and affordability.Guests will also be able to meet a variety of winemakers and hear first-hand about their passion for winemaking, and the fascinating ways in which they create their wines,learning about the difference sin region and style.
One pavilion will be dedicated to’Everyday Bordeaux’ wines, blind-tasted by a UK panel of judges made up of a mix of Bordeaux wine educators, journalists, Masters of Wine and Bordeaux retail buyers.The judges have selected wines which are not only a representative of their region or appellation of Bordeaux bu tshow great value for money.
All wines in the pavilion will be priced from £6 to £20 and are currently available to purchase in the UK.
With a programme of events curated by Paul Askew (Chef Patron of The Art School in Liverpool), the festival will be the perfect opportunity to sample some exciting dishes to complement the wines.
Paul has put together an incredible programme from top chefs–with demonstrations from the hottest chef of the moment, Tom Brown (Cornerstone), to Liverpool’s very own Ellis Barrie (The Marram Grass). Also doing demonstrations will be Nigel Haworth (Northcote) and Tom Parker (The White Swanat Fence), as well as Paul Askew himself.

Visitors are bound to build up an appetite; in addition to organising the above culinary events,Paul Askew has curated a selection of food outlets on site, including Streetza Pizza and Feed Me Street Food, who will be offering special menus for the event–including a Bordeaux-themed dish. The Ar tSchool will also be hosting a pop-up during the festival, offering delicious, seasonal dishes to keep guests well fed throughout.
