Review: Liberte Cocktail Bar & Restaurant

Liberté is located on the third floor of the Bentley Building boasting ‘breath-taking’ views of Liverpool’s waterfront, and plays host to some of the most “instagrammable” interiors in the city.

The cocktail menu goes above and beyond with everything you can think of. Liberte has everything from giant sharing cocktails served in an actual unicorn to divine smoked cocktails served on a jaunty angle.

No expense has been spared on the stunning interiors of this venue. There are tonnes of stunning floral pieces paired with funky neon signage and graffiti clad walls and is sure to be a hit with the social media stars of Liverpool.

We were seated at a lovely booth with the most fantastic views of Liverpool’s famous Three Grace’s. Every single member of staff we came across went above and beyond to make sure we were having a lovely time. We started the evening with some “Tipsy Unicorn” cocktails that came garnished with our very own watermelon unicorn.

Liberte describes itself as modern cuisine with a strong pan Asian influence. It’s clear from the menu choices that it has been very well thought out and the skilled chef’s behind the menu have taken their time to put together a stunning range of dishes.

To start, we shared a number of “Small Bites” which included Duck Bon Bon’s, Avacado King Prawns and Teryaki Beef Skewers. The King Prawns were huge and absolutely delicious, a really simple but lovely starter – light, refreshing and perfect heading in to the summer. The Duck Bon Bon’s were also delicious and served with a sticky Hoisin sauce – they were not quite what I expected but exceeded my expectations in terms of flavour.

It’s worth mentioning that there are lots of veggie and vegan options on the menu – all of the curries can include tofu making this a diverse menu suitable for everyone and the Asian Inspired Gnocchi sounds divine!

Two of us opted for the Caramel Soy Beef as a main course – whilst two us opted for Liberte Lamb. The salted Caramel Soy Beef, was by far, one of the best steak’s I’ve had in the city for a long time. 8oz of the highest quality, most beautifully cooked fillet steak served with the most divine Caramel Soy Sauce. The combination of sweet and salty paired with the steak was just spectacular.  This comes served with Bay infused potatoes and fresh stir-fried vegetables – both delicious also.

The Liberte Lamb comes with Marinated Lamb Cutlets, Steamed Pak Choi and Asian Style Mint Salsa. For me, the Mint Salsa was was made the dish – it was so unusual and none of us had ever seen or tasted anything like it. The mint is so refreshing and really lightens up the dish. This does not come with any sides but we opted for Tempura Vegetables as an extra which were lovely – especially the asparagus and carrot (suprisingly!).

It’s definitely worth sticking around and having a little break between courses as the puddings are absolutely delectable. We shared Chocolate Fondant, Asian Pear Crumble and Pineapple & Banana Fritters. The Asian Pear Crumble comes somewhat “deconstructed” but this made it much lighter than your standard crumble.  The Pineapple and Banana Fritters were a delicious twist on a takeaway favourite – the chilli toffee dip was again, something unusual and so tasty!

Liberte has some of the best views in the city and with their roof terrace – this is sure to be a hugely popular haunt over the summer months. You can sign up for exclusive news and invites here.

The menu offers excellent value for money – when taking in to consideration the quality of the food. There are some fabulous offers including two for one cocktails on a Thursday and early bird menu’s making this accessible for all budgets.

Liberte has truly everything – stunning interiors, relaxed vibe and possibly the best steak in the city – it goes well above and beyond making this one of the best foodie destinations in the city.
