New bar and restaurant opening in First National building

The famous First National Wine Bar has been extensively refurbished ahead of it reopening as The Old Bank. The Old Bank is due to launch in early spring.

Following another considerable investment from the Pub Invest Group, this time a very tasteful restoration of an old James Street institution & Liverpool landmark, The First National Bank building.

Extensive remodelling work has been underway behind the scenes for nearly six months and the new owners are ready to open the impressive doors to city drinkers & diners within weeks. The interior has been refurbished as closely as possible to the original grand standard and building work has revealed some beautiful details.

A spokesperson for the design team said  “We’re proud & excited to revive the former glory of a stunning listed interior within a smart new city venue, it nods to the incredible heritage of Liverpool’s rich waterfront & commercial history, the location is everything.”

At least twenty new roles from assistant manager to full time & part time front of house positions will be created.

Spokesperson for Pub Invest Group Tony McGee said “Pub Invest have been wishing to launch in the business district for some time, the suitability of the First National Bank building as our first venture could not be any better. The long & rich history of the waterfront will be reflected in everything we put in place at The Old Bank.

The first look at The Old Bank layout reveals a bespoke main island style bar and comfortable drinking & dining booths split over two floors with a second smaller mezzanine bar above, serving an impressive drinks list as you’d expect from a modern city bar, on draught & a bottled selection that includes a range of home grown local beers & craft ales.

A traditional ‘good pub food’ menu is planned with the emphasis on locally sourced ingredients & maritime influences. For sports, only occasional big game matches will be shown live.
