Miss England makes a splash at Southport Flower Show

The first day of Southport Flower Show saw temperatures soar with visitors, look including Miss England cooling off in the show’s outdoor pool.

Thousands arrived for the first day of the show which was officially opened by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott.

The show also saw appearances from BBC Gardeners World, vcialis 40mg Carol Klein, medicine Chelsea show winner Matthew Wilson, Jake Abraham, star of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Miss England, Elizabeth Grant.

Running from the next four days, Southport Flower Show features attractions from

live music, stunning garden displays, a food festival, a shopping village and spectacular entertainment, all reflecting the theme for this year, Mediterranean.

Gardening highlights include the grand floral marquee, amateur grower displays and 18 stunning show gardens.

The food festival includes stalls selling some of the nation’s best produce and a special demonstration kitchen, where celebrity chefs including Ainsley Harriott, Aiden Byrne and Andrew Nutter will show off their skills.

For families, the show is holding a Southport “Super Kids Saturday,” which will include performances from children’s TV star Mr Bloom.

There will also be children’s workshops and a range of entertainment through the four days, from motorcycle stunt teams, dog displays, animated robots, horse and falconry displays and a range of live music acts in the bandstand and piazza areas.
