Four people have died following a major house fire in Bootle.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Stone Square at 3.38am on Tuesday (September 21) to find a semi-detached house ‘well alight’.
Crews were on the scene in seven minutes as firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to search for occupants and tackle the blaze.
Sadly four people, believed to be a woman and three children, were pronounced deceased after showing ‘no signs of life’ in an upstairs bedroom.
One casualty was taken into the care of North West Ambulance Service for treatment for burns as a search of the property and firefighting continued.
The blaze was fully extinguished but the Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a joint investigation is underway with Merseyside Police also on the scene.
MFRS area manager Kevin Longshaw said: “This is a devastating incident, and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives and been injured.
“We will work closely with relevant colleagues to ascertain the cause of the fire, but in the immediate term, we again extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this tragic incident.”
