Everton are willing to offload Jake O’Brien before the transfer deadline.
O’Brien has been utilised as an auxiliary right-back since David Moyes’ return to the club after finding himself underused by the Scot’s predecessor Sean Dyche.
But the Republic of Ireland international could be on the move from HIll Dickinson Stadium after being demoted to a bench player during the pre-season campaign.
Midfielder Merlin Rohl took O’Brien’s makeshift position for the opening Premier League win over Crystal Palace as the Blues continue to pursue a new right-back.
A number of targets have emerged in that search with Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, Daniel Munoz of Palace and Fulham’s Timothy Castagne all previously targeted.
However the Athletic claim that Moyes’ side will listen to offers for O’Brien in the run-up to transfer window closing on September 1 amid growing interest in him.
Clubs in England, Italy and France have already emerged as potential suitors for the 25-year-old, who arrived from Lyon in a £17 million deal during the summer of 2024.
His potential departure would leave Everton with only three established centre-back options in Jarrad Branthwaite, captain James Tarkowski and Michael Keane.
Striker Beto also remains the subject of interest from Italy, where he plied his trade with Udinese prior to making the move to Merseyside, as the window ticks down.
