Everton forward Martin Sherif has been charged over a breach of betting rules.
Sherif is yet to make a senior apperance for David Moyes’ side but was a regular fixture in their under-21 team before loan spells with Rotherham and Port Vale.
The former Netherlands youth international was included in matchday squad for the Blues in their season finale at Newcastle in May 2025 but was an unused substitute.
Sherif stands accused of contravening the Football Association’s gambling regulations over a 15-month period between November 2024 and February 2026.
He becomes the second Everton player to face charges related to gambling infractions after Yerry Mina was fined for endorsing a Colombian betting company.
The defender received a £10,000 fine from English football’s governing body after appearing in a commercial that promoted the gaming firm in his homeland.
“Martin Sherif of Everton FC has been charged with breaching The FA’s betting rules,” a statement confirmed.
“It’s alleged that the player breached FA Rule E1.2 in respect of 61 bets placed on football matches between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026.
“Martin Sherif has until Monday 17 August to provide a response.”
