Former Everton midfielder Tom Davies has returned to Finch Farm.
Davies left his boyhood club in June 2023 after a 13-year spell in which he made 179 appearances in all competitions while also captaining the club on occasion.
He made his debut in April 2016 at the age of 17 before becoming the club’s youngest-ever skipper just two years later in a Carabao Cup tie with Rotherham.
The 28-year-old, who is the nephew of the Blues’ 1970 title-winning striker Alan Whittle, actually turned down a fresh terms to extend his stay on Merseyside.
He later joined Sheffield United as a free agent but was only able to make 36 appearances during a three-year stay with the Championship outfit.
Davies has temporarily rejoined Everton to train with the under-21 ranks in order to maintain his fitness while searching for a new club for the forthcoming season.
“Academy graduate Tom Davies has taken up an offer by Everton to train with the Blues’ Under-21s while he looks for a new club,” confirmed a club statement.
“The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Sheffield United at the end of last season and was keen to use his experience to support the Under-21s while building fitness for the 2026/27 campaign.”
