Everton have lost a legal claim over breaching Premier League financial rules.
Two separate point deductions were imposed on the club in the 2023/24 season for overspend on the top flight’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Several of the Blues’ rivals were invited to take legal action by the Premier League following a landmark 10-point sanction imposed in November 2023.
Burnley were the sole club to pursue litigation following their demotion to The Championship after Frank Lampard’s side manage to pull clear of the drop.
Both parties argued their case which has now concluded with the Premier League’s independent disciplinary panel finding in the Clarets’ favour.
Everton have been ordered to pay £35 million to their Turf Moor counterparts in the largest financial penalty ever imposed on an English top flight club.
The same panel which presided over the original 10-point sanction, later reduced to six on appeal, were responsible for deciding the financial case.
However the ruling will not have any impact on the club’s summer transfer plans nor their Squad Cost Ratio, which succeeded PSR this summer.
Everton have already confirmed they intend to appeal the ruling.
