Liverpool’s record signing Alexander Isak is edging nearer to a return to action.
Isak remains sidelined following a leg fracture in December’s Premier League win at Tottenham which was expected to rule him out for large parts of the campaign.
But the Sweden international stepped up his recovery by training separately at the AXA Training Center before the Reds’ Champions League clash with Galatasaray.
Anre Slot confirmed that Isak will not be available for the Anfield encounter but admitted that he is progressing well in plans to return before the end of the season.
He said: “Alex is not available for tomorrow.
“But the fact that you see him on the pitch tells you he gets closer and closer to joining us again.
“He will not be available for Saturday as well. As long as you don’t train with the team yet you are not ready to play.
“As we all know, if you’ve done, for months, only individual sessions it’s also quite a step up to train with the team.
“When you train with the team it’s quite a step up to play at Premier League or Champions League intensity.”
