Mzee Mohammed named as teenager who died in police custody

A teenager that died in police custody has been identified as Mzee Mohammed.

The 18-year-old took ill after he was taken in by Merseyside Police last night in Liverpool city centre.

Mohammed was detained by security services at Liverpool One and later rushed to the Royal hospital.

Following the incident, Merseyside Police has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Karla Mohammed is now demanding answers about her son’s untimely death.

“There are a lot of questions to be answered,” she told the Liverpool Echo.

“You don’t bury your kids – not your 18-year-old lad.

“I want to know what happened to my boy. I just want to see my son.”
