A man has been arrested over with the theft of a Nelson Mandela print in Liverpool.
The limited edition copy of a drawing by the late former South African president, was taken from St George’s Hall shortly before 7.45am on October 13 last year.
A frame housing the piece was damaged after the print was removed as the suspect made off from the Mandela Room in the Grade I-listed building.
Detectives have now confirmed a 44-year-old man from Kensington has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling in connection with the theft.
He was also arrested on suspicion of a separate offence of burglary dwelling at student accommodation in Liverpool city centre a month after the print’s removal.
Electrical items were said to have been stolen during that incident.
He has been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
