Former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger has begun training with Liverpool.
The 39-year-old faced the Reds during last season’s Europa League with Augsburg but is currently out of contract after leaving the Bundesliga side.
And Jurgen Klopp may offer Manninger, a member of Arsenal’s double-winning side of 1998, a contract as Anfield’s third-choice stopper next season.
Liverpool are already well-stocked in the goalkeeping department with Simon Mignolet, summer signing Loris Karius and Danny Ward, who is on the verge of signing a new deal.
But Manninger’s wealth of experience would provide further depth and offset the impending departure of an out-of-favour Adam Bogdan, who is set to join Wigan.
