Everton have stepped up their interest in two key transfer targets.

Bayern Munich’s left-sided defender Adam Aznou is set to become the fourth addition of the summer for David Moyes’ side with negotiations ongoing.

A deal in the region of £7.8 million will see Aznou follow Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers in making the move to the Blues.

The Barcelona-born player graduated from the Bundesliga champions’ youth ranks and has made four senior appearances in all competititons to date.

His potential arrival at Hill Dickinson Stadium will be as fresh competition for Vitalii Mykolenko following the departure of utility man Ashley Young.

Talks are also underway on a deal for Lyon winger Malik Fofana after he scored six times in their run to last season’s Europa League quarter-final.

Fofana has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest during the summer window.

Moyes, meanwhile, has acknowledged that Everton still require as many as 10 additions before their new Premier League campaign gets underway.

“We probably have to sign about nine or 10 players before the start of the season,” he told a supporters’ event in New York.

“We really want great characters at Everton but we also need to improve the quality we’ve got [in the squad].

“I promise that we’ll be trying to get really good players into the club in the next few weeks.

“We’ve been trying all summer and we expect to do that so we’re going to look to bring in a lot of new players.”
