Kevin Thelwell is set to leave as Everton’s director of football this summer.

Thelwell’s future at Goodison Park has been clouded in prolonged period of uncertainty due to his current contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.

The 51-year-old joined the Blues in March 2022, stepping into the void following Marcel Brands’ unexpected departure from the role just three months earlier.

His remit during that time has been to reconcile their Profit and Sustainability margins and overseen £220 million in player trading both in and out of the club.

It is understood that Thelwell’s departure is an amicable one but it remains unclear whether Everton owners The Friedkin Group will install a direct replacement.

The Americans are expected to undertake a significant infrastructure rebuild in the summer with Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear set to become their new CEO.
