Everton fans stage anti Premier League protest

Everton fans have protested against their Premier League points deduction.

A record 10-point penalty was imposed on Sean Dyche’s side following an independent commission ruling that they had breached financial regulations.

Tens of thousands of supporters marched from The Brick pub towards Goodison Park in the lead-up to Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.

More than 38,000 placards were produced as part of efforts by fan group The 1878s, who also use part of £40,000 in donations for specially made banners.

Fans attending the highly-anticipated fixture were handed out the florescent pink cards bearing the Premier League emblem and the word ‘corrupt’.

Those cards were held up throughout Goodison immediately before kick-off as the league’s ‘anthem’ was drowned out by a cacophony of boos and jeers.

Fireworks were also launched from behind the Gwladys Street End as fans continued to make themselves heard about their club’s sporting sanction.
