Liverpool confirm new Anfield Rd contractor

Liverpool have confirmed a new contractor to complete the Anfield Road Stand.

Construction on the new 7,000-seat structure halted last month as existing contractor Buckingham Group teetered on the brink of administration.

The building firm entered receivership earlier this week, which ended their association with the project which will extend Anfield’s capacity to 61,000.

Now, the Reds have revealed that Rayner Rowen are set to finish the job alongside other contractors with the ambitious rebuild now behind schedule.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will continue to play in front of a reduced capacity of 51,000 in their games with West Ham, Leicester City and Union Saint-Galloise.

“It is anticipated that the additional capacity at Anfield will be incrementally phased in after the next three home games,” confirmed a club statement.

“We do not expect any impact on the continued operation of the existing Anfield Road Stand, which has remained in use throughout the development so far.

“Working with Rayner Rowen Construction, we will seek to engage as many of Buckingham’s existing sub-contractors going forward as we are reasonably able to.

“Everyone at LFC is looking forward to getting the stand completed and fully open, and we are doing everything possible to make sure that happens as quickly and safely as possible.

“We would like to thank all fans for their support and understanding while we work to resolve this unfortunate situation.”
