Leeds have issued a hands-off warning to Everton over Wilfried Gnonto.
Gnonto made himself unavailable for the Championship outfit’s Carabao Cup tie on Wednesday as Goodison Park officials attempt to negotiate a deal.
The Italy international, 19, has also ruled himself out for Leeds’ trip to face Birmingham City on Saturday due to the ongoing wrangle over his future.
But the Yorkshire club insisted on Friday that Gnonto will face disciplinary action for his current lack of involvement and insisted he remains not for sale.
“Earlier this week, Willy Gnonto and his representatives were informed by the club that he would not be sold this summer,” read a club statement.
“Following those conversations, Willy felt he was unable to play in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town.
“Despite training for the last two days, Willy has informed [manager] Daniel Farke that he still does not feel able to play this weekend and has not travelled to Birmingham for the game tomorrow.
“This is now an internal disciplinary matter and the club will make no further comment, other than to reiterate that Willy is not for sale.”
