Liverpool are in talks over buying back their former Melwood training ground.
The West Derby facility previously housed the Anfield club’s first-team ranks for over 70 years until they moved into the AXA Training Centre in late 2020.
Melwood was sold to developers Torus as part of plans to build affordable housing on the site while also retaining its existing building structure.
Since 2021, Reds legends Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler have operated their respective sports foundations from within their former stomping ground.
But Liverpool have opened discussions about potentially repurchasing their old base for their women’s team, who do not have a purpose-built facility.
Matt Beard’s side currently train at Tranmere’s Solar Campus in Wallasey and play their home games at the League Two outfit’s Prenton Park home.
“Liverpool FC is continuing to evaluate a number of sites for a possible new training ground for LFC Women,” confirmed a club spokesperson.
“The project team has not yet made a final decision on a preferred site but will update supporters as soon as it is possible to do so.”
