Jordan Pickford ruled out for up to a month

Everton will be without Jordan Pickford for up to a month.

Pickford suffered a thigh injury during last Saturday’s Merseyside derby stalemate with Liverpool, where he delivered a man-of-the-match display.

The England international underwent a medical assessment on the problem this week and is now expected to be sidelined until the start of October.

Frank Lampard’s side are expected to deploy Pickford’s understudy Asmir Begovic in his absence, with fellow goalkeeper Andy Longergan also injured.

Academy prospect Billy Crellin is likely to step up as the Blues’ deputy stopper with Harry Tyrer currently on loan at National League North outfit Chester.

“Jordan Pickford suffered a thigh injury against Liverpool on Saturday,” confirmed an Everton statement.

“The England international has undergone medical investigations this week and is not expected to return to action until after the next international break.”

Pickford is expected to miss Everton’s Premier League games at Arsenal and a home clash with West Ham United before the September international break.
