Frank Lampard reveals Gordon transfer update

Chelsea are yet to make an improved offer to Everton for Anthony Gordon.

Gordon attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs this summer but only the Londoners have tried to test the Goodison Park board’s resolve.

An initial £40 million approach was rejected out of hand by the Blues, who insist that they have no plans to sell their 21-year-old homegrown talent.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were reportedly preparing to up the ante with a fresh bid of £60M for Gordon as Frank Lampard targets fresh attacking additions.

But the Everton manager has confirmed that Chelsea have not signalled any renewed intent for the winger, who will be in his side’s squad for the trip to Brentford.

“No, it hasn’t come in,” said Lampard.

“He is our player and remains so, he is in the squad for tomorrow. He’s a huge player for us.

“Not only is he a big value for the club, if you want to talk financially, but more importantly for me a big value to me and the squad remains the same.

“They haven’t bid £60M so let’s not talk about a number that’s not there.”

He added: “I’ve been fortunate enough to work with fantastic young players in my time at Derby and Chelsea, seen them develop and now become England internationals, Champions League winners, worth maybe triple figures in terms of some of their personal values.

“Anthony’s in that bracket. He’s been a pleasure to work with and he’s ours, he’s an Everton boy and the crowd relate to him.

“It’s understandable that people would be interested in him because of the level of player he is, but the facts remain the same.”
