Liverpool defender Ben Davies has joined Rangers in a permanent deal.
Davies arrived at Anfield in the 2021 January transfer window from Preston North End as Jurgen Klopp’s side desperately sought backline reinforcements.
But the 26-year-old failed to make a competitive appearance in his 18 months with the Reds, making his only outing in a pre-season friendly last summer.
He spent the duration of the previous campaign on loan with Sheffield United in The Championship and featured 23 times for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
Davies’ move north of the border is expected to see Liverpool receive an initial £3 million upfront with £1M payable in potential future add-ons.
“Rangers is a fantastic club, a big club. Ben belongs on a big stage for sure. European football as well,” said Klopp.
“This presents a proper opportunity to demonstrate his quality and composure. As a person he’s as good a guy as you could hope to meet.
“It’s a smart piece of recruitment from Giovanni van Bronckhorst, to be honest. Perfect for all parties.
“He has himself an accomplished defender, who is entering his peak years and whose character is top drawer.
“We wish Ben nothing but the success he deserves and will be following from here as he goes on to make many achievements during the rest of his career.”
