Mohamed Salah has finally committed his long-term future to Liverpool.
Talks between Salah’s representatives and Anfield chiefs hit an impasse last season, opening up the prospect of the player leaving for free next summer.
But fresh negotiations with the Egypt international yielded a breakthrough this week following discussions with the Reds’ new sporting director Julian Ward.
Salah penned a new three-year contract on Friday, understood to be worth £350,000 per week, which safeguarded his stay with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Since joining in 2017, the 30-year-old has won the Premier League’s three times in the past five seasons and lifted six major honours with Liverpool.
“I feel great and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club,” said Salah.
“It’s a happy day for everyone. It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next.
“You can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.
“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well.
“We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.”
