Liverpool have confirmed Calvin Ramsay as their third and final summer signing.

Ramsay penned a five-year contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side on Sunday after a breakthrough season at Aberdeen which earned him the initial £4M transfer.

The right-back, who will wear the no.22 shirt at Anfield, is set to be integrated into the Reds’ first-team setup as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s direct understudy.

He joins Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez in sealing moves to Merseyside ahead of the transfer window reopening on July 1.

“I’m just buzzing and it’s a dream come true really to be here,” said Ramsay.

“It was a dream come true to play for Aberdeen, and now to be at one of the biggest, if not the biggest club in the world, it’s a massive achievement and I’m looking forward to trying to show the fans what I’ve got.

“Hopefully I can come in in pre-season, show everyone at the club, the staff, players what I’ve got and then we’ll see what happens from there.”

Klopp revealed some of the qualities which saw the newly crowned Scottish Young Player of the Year joining his boyhood club in a potential £6.5M deal.

“He has bags of potential,” said the Liverpool manager.

“He is only 18 years old at the moment, although turns 19 soon and already has a decent number of first-team appearances for a defender of his age.

“He is athletic, smart, confident, with good technical ability and – always crucial – is eager to learn. So there’s lots to like.

“Experiences of European and U21 international football have been really important for him and his development, too.

“Signing so early in the window is fantastic for him as it means he’ll be with us for pre-season. That helps so much, particularly for a younger signing coming to us.

“He and we will have patience with each other. I think we have proved ours is the ideal environment to nurture and harness the qualities and talent of a young player.

“So we’re all really looking forward to working with him and seeing him improve and develop.”
