Liverpool have reached the Champions League final after seeing off Villarreal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were drawn level in the tie through first-half goals from Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin in Tuesday’s return leg at La Ceramica.

But the Reds rallied after the half-time break as Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane all scored to book the Reds’ place in this month’s Paris showpiece.

Mane’s strike became a record-breaking one as it constituted Liverpool’s 139th goal in all competitions, eclipsing the previous feat set in 1985/86.

“It feels so special because it was so difficult for us,” said Klopp.

“Before the game, I told the boys I wanted the headlines to be the mentality monsters were in town.

“I wanted it from the first moment but the second half was like that. How we came back in the second half was so special.

“It was a top performance.”

Liverpool will discover who they will face at the Stade de France on May 28 when Real Madrid and Manchester City contest Wednesday’s other semi-final.
