Man dies in Liverpool city centre collision

Police have confirmed a man died after being hit by a lorry in Liverpool city centre.

Emergency services were called to Renshaw Street shortly before 2.10pm on Sunday following reports of a collision involving a HGV and a pedestrian.

Sadly, the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are continuing to formally identify him and notify his next of kin.

The driver of the HGV, a 31-year-old man, stopped at the scene and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries into the incident.

Anyone who knew the pedestrian, witnessed the collision or has any CCTV or dashcam footage is being urged to get in touch with Merseyside Police.
