Everton lead calls for ESL point deductions

Everton are reportedly leading calls for points deductions over the Super League plot.

Both Carlo Ancelotti and Farhad Moshiri have placed on-record their belief in sanctions for the six Premier League clubs who joined the failed breakaway.

Goodison Park chiefs condemned the English sides that signed up to Super League’s last month, accusing them of ‘betraying’ the footballing pyramid.

Top flight officials face mounting pressure to resolve the fallout before next month’s end-of-season meeting between its current 20 shareholders.

A series of preventative measures are set to be implemented in response to the Super League, including an Owners’ Charter which all clubs must sign.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues and Newcastle United are the leading voices lobbying for severe action to be taken against the six teams involved.

They are said to feel financial penalties will not impact billionare owners at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City.

However the report also notes that appetite for meaningful action against the self-styled ‘Big Six’ is limited due to the potential legal wranglings it will incur.
