Ancelotti responds to Sami Khedira comments

Carlo Ancelotti has downplayed Everton making a move for Sami Khedira.

Ancelotti worked with Khedira during his two-year spell in charge at Real Madrid during which he helped the Italian win the 2014 Champions League.

Now at Juventus, the Germany international hinted this week at a possible reunion with Ancelotti as he eyes a potential move to the Premier League.

However the Blues’ boss insists that while he holds Khedira in high esteem, the prospect of the midfielder, 33, heading to Goodison Park is unlikely.

“I have a good memory of Sami Khedira,” said Ancelotti.

“He was with me at Real Madrid and was a fantastic professional.

“I would love to work with him, but unfortunately he’s not the only one!

“I’ve had fantastic players in my career, I’ve had good memories of them.

“But to come here to Everton is another thing to consider.”

Ancelotti also reiterated that Khedira’s former Real teammate Isco is not currently under consideration as a target ahead of the January window.

He added: “Isco is a rumour from the press, from the media. It’s not a rumour that went out from our side.

“We are not talking about the market in this period, we are talking about the problem that we had and we are working to try and solve this problem.

“Apart from this, Isco was my player at Real Madrid and was a fantastic player. He is a Real Madrid player.”
